IN BRIEF

Farmer Bros. Names Interim CEO to Post

Jerry Hirsch

August 16, 2005

Torrance coffee roaster Farmer Bros. Co. named longtime company executive Guenter W. Berger its chairman, chief executive and president.

Berger, 68, has served as interim CEO since January after the suicide of Roy E. Farmer, grandson of the company's founder. Berger's elevation marks only the second time in the company's 93-year history that it has been run by a non-family member.
